stock market

A stock market, equity market or share market is the aggregation of buyers and sellers of stocks (also called shares), which represent ownership claims on businesses; these may include securities listed on a public stock exchange, as well as stock that is only traded privately, such as shares of private companies which are sold to investors through equity crowdfunding platforms. Investment in the stock market is most often done via stock brokerages and electronic trading platforms. Investment is usually made with an investment strategy in mind. The most basic concept of the stock market is the idea that each share of stock represents a small portion of ownership of a corporation. While most businesses are founded by small groups of people, when a company "goes public" its owners decide to sell shares of stock and, in turn, receive cash from buyers. What is the share market and how it works? A stock exchange in the platform where financial instruments like stocks and derivatives are traded. Market participants have to be registered with the stock exchange and SEBI to conduct trades. This includes companies issuing shares, brokers conducting the trades, as well as traders and investors.
